Cpl. Josue Barron of Cudahy, Calif., prepares for his race during the 2012 Warrior Games cycling competition. Newlywed Barron, 22, placed fourth in the 10-kilometer handcycling race. The 2007 Bell High School graduate was wounded in an improvised explosive device blast while deployed to Afghanistan in 2010. Barron reached out to help a friend get out of a trench when the blast occurred. His left leg was amputated and he lost his left eye. He remains dedicated to his unit at the time of his injury, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines. His prosthetic eye is outfitted with his unit’s logo.
